God I want his movie to fail. I want it to fail with a deep and wanting want.
I’ve tried to think of a reverse of the situation, and the closest I can come is Britain making a version of the life of George Washington with Jason Statham as the US Founding Father. Punching out Hessians and dodging explosions at Bunker Hill, he romances Martha Washington, who is played by Amy Winehouse. And that movie I actually do want to see, so it’s the polar opposite of Tom’s! Yay!
I really like Tom as an actor, and he has done some really charitable stuff for many, as well as how he apologized to Brooke Shields said a whole lot about his character, no matter what Tom haters try to say. Peeps are so fickeled and especially in this day and age that so many do not ever think of what spews out of their mouths, let alone their hearts.
However, this movie seems a bit creepy. Though historically the role he is playing was a Nazi who tried to take down Hitler, (which makes him a hero in my humble and astute op). Still, it is such a horrific time in history, as the Nazi’s under crazed tryrant Adolf Hitler and croonies, started out killing their own and then escalated into horrors of horrors eleminating just wonderful lives, of God’s creation. They have whole cemetaries of killing off first Germans, the aged, afflicted, disabled, those that did not fit their ilk, and then they targeted the Jews, Christians, Catholics, gypsies, Homosexuals, and artist and on it went. Having said that ole Joe Stalin did the same, and killed off more of his own peeps, just because he was one horrible sadistict monster, both Adolf Hitler and Joe Stalin are up there with the worse of the worse and admired by evil men and women world wide. As like Adolf, Stalin killed off entire populations, including anyone he became paranoid over or just stopped liking, including his own wife, and top leaders, no wonder Saddam Insane loved him so much. Anyhow, it just shows the reality of the human heart that goes undone without any accountablity to God, our Creator. These peeps had their own superiority complexes which comes often from inferior minded folks of poor self esteem, longing to be gods, and like so many, even with most of humanity, they are always making God into their image, bad bad idea, instead of allowing the LORD to make them in His.
I do love ya Tom, you have done some great movies, and will do many more. I have not liked all your movie, only a few I have not seen, and not because of you but because of the story line, I am not into Dracula, just too dark for me. This may turn out well, as Schindler’s List as dark yet a reality we need to realize, as it was truly told as a historical story in a heart gripping manner and a fabulous production. I still weep at such a grave lost of precious lives, and am grateful for those who were saved.
As for Posh, that is just one bad stylist error, try and lighten up and give away the fabric to the poor to reuse.
I agree with desertwind. I’ve long wanted to see the story of the July plotters and Stauffenberg brought to the screen but – Tom Cruise??? NEIN!
Of course, I also want a 35 cm black box calf Kelly or, failing that, one of Posh’s castoffs – any one will do, really. I am also aware that many things that I want in this life, I’m never going to get.

1) Whats_Up_Doc…humble and astute…think about that?
2) No matter how anyone defends Tom Cruise and his absurd behavior in public, it remains absurd behavior in public and his movie roles of late seem to only heighten the perception that his behavior is…absurd.
What’s_Up_Doc’s transmission from another planet does not move me. Tom Cruise remains ridiculous and rude for playing a character that (SURPRISINGLY!) isn’t just a hero to What’s_Up_Doc, but to most of Europe (who already knew who Stauffenberg is). Production of this film went ahead AGAINST the wishes of the Von Stauffenberg family, who are still alive and well and proud of their father’s attempt, even if it failed. The July 20th Attempt represented the sympathies of all the Germans who weren’t dedicated Nazis and lamented that their country had fallen so far, and who well knew the price for disagreeing with the ruling party of Hitler Goerhing and their hellish little band. He and his fellows are still considered heroes for their actions.
Von Stauffenberg and the other orchestrators of the plot were executed within twelve hours of its failure. I’m ashamed that an American film company is clearly using this incredibly important moment in history as a band-aid for that fruit loop Cruise’s career.

My favorite thing about this post is the filenames given to the photos: “Authoritative” and “Totalitarian.”
Superb.
