Celine Dion, mime extraordinaire
By Spirit FingersWhatever happened to celebrating mediocrity and half-assed efforts? Nowadays even winning counting accolades and selling 200 million albums worldwide doesn’t entitle you to be cut any slack:
Celine Dion has been criticised for miming during a TV show celebrating her career.
The singer lip-synched throughout An Audience With Celine Dion, despite the fact that guests including Sir Elton John and Kylie Minogue opted to sing live.
A source told The Sun: “It didn’t wash with the audience, as it was clear she was miming. She should have taken a tip from one of her biggest hits – and thought twice.”
So what if she wants to give her famed tonsils a rest now and then? Surely the depth of emotive expressions, the stripping down of each gesture to its very essence and the masterful air guitar technique is worth the price of entry alone.

i completely agree. She can be much better than lip syncing throughout the whole performance. i can tell you i was completely disappointed. I went to her actual show and she did fine live, so i’m guess she’s starting to loose her voice after all these years.

I just saw her special on TV last night. It looked like she lip synched through half the sonbs. I was very disappointed. She over exaggerates the mouth when she lip syncs. I’ll think twice before I go to anymore concerts. Why pay all that money to listen to a recording? These singers make a ton of money. It’s just not worth it.

Shes never mimes at concert but on tv 99% of the time she does…
I read somewhere its so she can save her voice for her fans that go and see her in concert. Bit sad really. Im going to see her in May cant wait
Personally i dont see why she mimes her voice is great live.
It mainly the new songs that get mimed that she hasnt dont live yet.

i thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooo very much for fighting back with ppl who bitch about celine lip syncing she was doing a las vegas show for five years five days a week for 2 hours like what do you expect her vocals to not be strained she wants to make a better performance for the next time , then of course she lip syinc to restore her vocals and keep them in tact for a bteer perfomrnace the next itme instead of continusly having strained vocals

man every singer lip syncs at one point and the producers of the show probably wanted her to lip. most performances that are tough are difficult to sing .

LOL she saves her voice for her fans….
No she doesnt, she mimes in all of her concerts and has been using the same backing tracks for at least 5 years… theres a video on youtube showing her at two shows 5 years apart, she sings the lead into the song and then they are absolutely identical tracks of her singing and then she finishes the song herself….
her drummer that was fired back in 1995 brought up that she was lipsyncing in concert back then in a court action against her last year…
I dont mind these people lip synicing in concert if the tickets are a max $50 each but if youre paying $100 or more I want it made illegal for them to lip sync. no excuses accepted at that money….. if you cant sing 5 nights a week, A. youre just not singing properly B. I dont expect people to be paying you massive money to hear a recording, they can buy the CD for $14.95 .. lip syncing in concert is theft.
