Ayyyy! Puzzle corner
This week’s theme – and it should come as no surprise to many of you who are enjoying the day off – is movie presidents great and not so great.
Closely examine the picture montage below and identify the actors who have played the Leader of the Free World. If you are so inclined and bursting with knowledge, you may name the movie as well. Answers to be put up on Wednesday morning.
All of them were more plausible than Bush 2.0.
The only one I know is #2, which is Jack Nicholson and Glenn Close from Mars Attacks, which I just re-watched last week.
well, raincoaster, since you already told us no. 2, I think no. 1 is Kevin Klein in Dave.
Number 4 is Michael Douglas in The American President, I think. But then again maybe not, because I don’t remember Annette Benning wearing that dress.
Well Raincoaster, I like Bush 2.0, myself. As to the puzzle, I think 4 is Michael Douglas in The American President, 6 is obviously a reference to, or parody of, LBJ and that infamous moment when he lifted his beagles by the ears. Could it be from the hilarious movie, “Dick”? I seem to recall the dog looked similar in that movie.
One of them has to be Bill Pullman in Independence Day. Perhaps one of them is one of the many TV or cinematic versions of the JFK presidency (13 Days, Missiles of October, etc.). But it is indeed difficult to tell. One of my favourite cinematic portrayals of a president is Gary Sinise as Harry Truman, but none of these pictures looks to be from that era.
I look forward to seeing the answers.
I agree with the above (except liking Bush 2.0) and think # 3 is the president from 24…
1 – Kevin Kline (Dave)
2 – Jack Nicholson (Mars Attacks)
6 – Dennis Quaid (American Dreamz)
7 – Martin Sheen (West Wing)
8 – Mark Harmon (Chasing Liberty)
Oh, and #4 is Bill Pullman (Independance day)
#4 is Anthony Hopkins in “Nixon”
