Then and now

Loreal, because jaundice is worth it

Gosh, I haven’t seen so much bleaching since a certain fallen Prince of Pop decided to opt out of looking human. What next L’oreal, shall we digitally whittle her nose down until it’s so thin and pointy it could cut glass?

Ummm….she’s light skinned. For those who aren’t black, let me explain something to you. Michael Jackson aside, there are some black people who are really fair skinned. She may wear bronzer every once in a while so she doesn’t look washed out and pale but I’ve seen her without makeup and she is very light skinned. Not everyone wants to be white people. Get over yourself. Bye.

“Not everyone wants to be white people.”

That would be a good thing. The concern I have, and that others may have as well, is that some blacks may feel pressure to conform to white notions of attractiveness. The other concern would be that L’oreal is quite literally whitewashing her, as though whatever skin tones she has aren’t attractive or acceptable.
